I appreciate you taking the time to learn more about our site. Now don't get me wrong, I do think search engines are wonderful tools, however, a lot of the time they can be frustrating. This frustration is what inspired the idea behind iSwami.com.

As you probably do too, I like to patronize locally owned and operated businesses whenever I can. I don't remember what exactly I was looking for, but it was, or at least I thought it should be, something easily found with a web search. What I got back was a few thousand sites to sift through. And, this seemed to be happening more and more. I thought there should be a better way.

I thought for quite a while of how I came to use the services of different businesses in my community and realized that most of the time they had been recommended to me by someone else who had used them and had a good experience. That's it! That is the basic premise behind what we do. We (being ourselves and our users) would build a search system that would quickly link each other with what we believe are the best local businesses we've found.

And that is what we have. A simple drill-down system that with a few clicks you can be learning about what others consider to be the best at what they do in your area. It does, of course, rely on you to work. We need you to continue to submit and recommend those businesses that have served you well so we can let others have the opportunity too.

It doesn't stop there. There are a couple of "do not's" that also apply. You do not have to read opinion after opinion about each business. You know that the business linked to is the most recommended by our users as the best in its category for that city. And most importantly, the businesses that are listed here do not and cannot pay to be linked. That way you know it's customer driven, not cash driven.

What makes some businesses better than others? There are a number of factors, however the key ingredients seem to be a good product or service at a fair price (a good value) and good, consistent, customer service.
